Web accessibility means equal Web access for all, regardless of
background. 10% of the population of most countries have some sort
of disability—such as being visually impaired,
hearing-impaired or physically, cognitively or neurologically
challenged—which can affect users’ ability to access
the Web. The phenomenon of an aging population, in Quebec and
elsewhere, has a direct impact on Web accessibility needs: changes
in visual acuity, hearing loss, problems with small-motor skills
and memory loss. 15% of the population of Quebec is affected. At
S2i Web, we are aware that Web accessibility is a growing concern.
However, very few Websites are fully accessible at this time.
Fortunately, the majority of Websites developed by S2i Web observe
the level-one guidelines issued by the World Wide Web Consortium
(W3C).
