Situation
Boasting more than 3,000 online recipes, several promotions and contests and countless articles on food and nutrition, the Metro.ca portal is the reference by which Quebec grocer Websites are measured. In addition to having been awarded many prizes since its inception, the Website has built a strong base of subscribers. Overall, there are over 120,000 subscribers who have signed up to receive a personally tailored newsletter each week. In this newsletter are found ideas for varied menus, which can be prepared using the ingredients of the specials found in the Metro.ca flyer. Metro has positioned its Website to be a lifestyle-based portal, offering consumers recipes, tips and new ideas.
The portal had evolved and grown quite bulky over time. It was
no longer well suited to the needs of Metro.ca and acceptable
standards for Metro consumers. Metro wished to overhaul all of the
components of their Internet presence.
Evolution
For this project, S2i Web proposed a fully integrated technological Web solution that includes not only the obligatory Content-Management System (CMS), but also all of the tools and applications needed to manage the Metro.ca Website and all of its features. This technological platform is at the core of the Metro.ca universe. It facilitates management of all of the Website’s components and makes it easy to create and manage promotional activities and public-relations campaigns.
In addition to the back-end approach, we overhauled all online functionality (recipe book, search function, shopping list, online flyers, etc.), along with overall performance of the Website. A fully customizable Website that offers unique enriched content to its members.
The Website is backed by a newsletter, which includes a menu put together on the basis of the weekly specials and individual member profiles and offers members exclusive promotional offers tailored to their individual needs.
