Description
Since its inception, this Website had been receiving an average of
52,000 hits per month, with 280,000 page views and 199,000
downloads. To back the efforts of a new name-recognition campaign
for Publications Québec, an overhaul was needed, taking into
consideration new development projects (new sections and new
functionality). Our overhaul included application of W3C standards
and observance of the recommendations of Le cadre de diffusion de
l'information gouvernementale sur Internet, the government of
Quebec’s Programme d’identification visuel (PIV), and
the editorial policy of the communication plan.
Evolution
The site was designed to be particularly user-friendly, applying
best practices to make navigation and the graphical interface as
pleasant and easy to use as possible. The object was to make the
site easy to use, thus encouraging online transactions. The site
shines a favourable light on products, services and research tools
by presenting them in a dynamic and user-friendly storefront. The
site also provides an avenue for presenting promotional drives and
campaigns to complement other publicizing methods. Rules of Web
accessibility were applied, and a content management environment
was set up whereby staff of Publications Québec will be able
to update content on their own. Two new main sections were added (a
customer care section and a press room) to meet new customer needs,
and a new tool was developed for the purpose of searching the
documents found on the Website.
